We needed a structural engineer for a fairly big project – opening up the back of our house for a new kitchen/dining/living space, plus a loft conversion. Jon was great from the start, really knowledgeable, which made a big difference for us. He put together all the calculations and drawings needed for building control and for our builder, including the steel beams, columns and foundations for the extension. This allowed us to safely remove the entire rear of the house and create a really bright space with a large glazed roof lantern, which has completely transformed how the house feels. The loft design was also really well thought through. It meant the work could be done without taking the whole roof off, which we hadn’t even considered but made things much easier during the build. He took the time to meet with us, explain things in plain English, and also spoke directly with our builder, which honestly just gave us a lot of confidence that everything was being done properly. Always quick to respond and happy to help with questions along the way, not just ticking a box. Would definitely recommend.

Jon came out at very short notice for multiple site visits and put together an excellent report for the work that needed doing, and coordinated with our builder so they knew exactly what needed to be done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jon was fantastic from start to finish. He was able to fit me in quickly and carried out a very thorough assessment of my property for a wall knock through. Despite my house being a bit chaotic (I’d just ripped out the kitchen and have young kids), he put me at ease immediately. He was friendly, approachable, and happy to answer all my questions, even taking extra time to discuss other parts of my building project, which he didn’t have to do but was incredibly helpful. After the visit, he promptly sent over all the documents and calculations. Jon is clearly an experienced chartered structural engineer who knows his stuff. I highly recommend him to anyone needing structural engineering advice.

I was advised by the council that I needed a structual engineer. I rang Your structural Engineers Ltd, and within 3 hrs, john met me at the property. He liaised with the roofer and gave excellent advise. That evening all the information had been sent to myself and the council. I would definitely recommend John and his firm, for the prompt and professional service that they provided.

Absoloutley Brilliant service, called up John after we'd been ripped off by some local builders to come and inspect the work, and after trying numerous local firms, quoting me a 1 month turnaround for a site visit. He came out the same day, Provided loads of advice, went totally above and beyond his quote, and we had the full report within a week. Genuinely lovely guy and the most pleasant experience I've ever had dealing with anyone in construction. I can't thank him enough.

We used Jon for a full renovation of our house in Dronfield (in a conservation area), which turned out to be a pretty involved project. He started with a full inspection of the property and then helped us through the whole design, including a new roof structure, reinstating the stone chimneys, new window openings and a new orangery. The orangery was probably the trickiest part as it was cut into an embankment, but he worked through the foundations, retaining walls and roof design and came up with a solution that actually worked in practice, not just on paper. He also designed new lintels and a new internal opening, and dealt with everything from the measured survey and planning drawings through to building control calculations. What we really appreciated was that he stayed involved throughout. He gave advice during tender and came out to site at different stages to check everything was going to plan, which gave us a lot of confidence. Overall just really easy to deal with, explained things clearly, and made what could have been quite a stressful project feel a lot more straightforward. Would happily recommend.
